Foals are at the Entry on Monday. I really like this band and this album, can't wait to hear it live.

IT'S THE (SAME) BEAT

This Simian Mobile Disco remix thing is out of control. They keep re-releasing the same singles with new remixes (we could possibly call it Chromeo syndrome), and I would totally mind except they keep picking my favorite producers and DJs, to the point where it's getting ridiculous. A remix album sounds like too much, but check the people they lined up for it... from Shit Robot's MySpace:

Subject: simian mobile disco shit robot remix

hey, new simian mobile disco "it's the beat" shit robot remix posted in my player if you care?

should be released next month on simian's adsr remix album with more remixes by silver apples, beyond the wizards sleeve, invisible conga people, joakim, danton eeprom, simon baker, cosmo vitelli etc.
!

enjoy,

shitbot.

Make sure to check out that SR remix on his page, it's a nice buzzing death-disco number. Can't wait to hear the rest of those... BTWS, Invisible Conga People, Joakim, fucking Silver Apples...

MEDIATED

You can catch a quick interview with myself today on Taylor's excellent Mediation blog, as part of his Interview Week. Again, I really recommend adding his blog to your feed reader. For the record, I'm pretty sure I'm 0% Russian. And while we're at it, 0% Chinese, too.

I JUST STYLE-FLIPPED YA!

The most notable thing about the Minneapolis electronic music scene? We know how to order customized gear stickers online. Ballin!

PART OF THE WEEKEND NEVER DIES

I really, really wish I had caught the last Nite Versions tour.

RELISH THE THOUGHT

As predicted, Too Much Love last Saturday was the biggest, and possibly best, ever. I can't remember the last time I heard that much great music in one place. Plus there were LASERS and FREE HOT DOGS. It's going to be hard to top. 1,000 thanks to James F!@.$%^ Friedman, My Cousin Roy, Max Pask, and The Wiz for coming out. And look for TML to get bigger and better as spring and summer start to show up. Here are some photos from the whirlwind night:

Also check out photos from my partners in crime, the Moon Goons.

FIND THE CORE

I still haven't done my spiel about why I think the Black Ghosts are such a great band, and deserve more than just blogged-out remixes. Oh well, maybe later.

Big weekend!  Tonight I will be playing at a party in the VIP room at First Ave.  From the Facebook event:

DAILY LOL

The Daily Swarm has recently become one of my top places for music news.  The ridiculous news items that just popped up in a row on the RSS feed are too crazy not to share. Only one of these is about an April Fool's joke:

Extending a partnership which began and culminated in an MTV Europe music award in 2006 for their song “We Are Your Friends”, music group Justice is leading the way in a collection of apparel with creative collective Surface to Air. The collection holds a lot of weight in Justice’s love of leather goods with three jackets designed alongside two pairs of denim.

Hip hop mogul 50 Cent, Universal Music Group and several of its record labels were sued on Wednesday for promoting a “gangsta lifestyle” by a 14-year-old boy...

AW BABY

I can never remember the name of this song. Thank you Can't Hardly Wait soundtrack listing.

INTRODUCING

BIRD N EM

Hotness-creator and professional swell dude Bird Peterson has a quick feature in XLR8R that's worth checking out. Nice one Bird.

In a slightly more bizarre match-up, Metro Area is featured on AOL's Spinner, with a disco mix to boot... although AOL is a little late on the WMC plug.  Check out Environ on Facebook.

SLIP IN AND OUT

Some friends and I watched Sesame Street late this past weekend. They still show some of the animated bits from the 70's. I have never been so into the number 7 in my life. This reminded me of that for some reason:

Domino Record are releasing a comprehensive retrospective of legendary New Yorkers Liquid Liquid. Slip in and out of Phenomenon drops in late May.

TRIPLE DOUBLE DOUBLE DOUBLE

I ordered the double-double; they gave me the double-double-double-double!

Tonight I'm rocking Mike's joint the Triple Double at the Triple Rock.  It'll be myself, my pal Millions Billions, and Paper Tiger from Doomtree.  2-4-1's on taps and rails til midnight, $2 Hamm's from midnight til close.  No cover, 21+, etc, see you there!
