wow. John's new movie, When Buortau Attacks. so bad, it goes past being bad to good and back again, and i think again
ok. a bunch of Pitchfork links.. but they're relevant
first off, today's reviews freaked me out, mostly because in the 24 hours before I checked it, I had explicitly clear thoughts and/or conversations about Crooked Fingers, John Zorn, Suicide, and Menthol.
why aren't more people talking about Justin T-Lake playing bass for the Flaming Lips in a freaking dolphin suit? i think that deserves some freaking attention! i'd pay money to see that. i mean, it's not like there's some big important speech the president made recently that deserves coverage and my attention more than that.
and the singles section rocks: LCD Soundsystem's "Losing My Edge" apparently inspired it [DFA 4EVA], the Temptations' "Ball of Confusion" bringin back the American Studies memories [AUUUGH], and the White Stripes' (new) "There's No Hope For You Here"
Speaking of which, I listened to "Seven Nation Army" today from the BBC's Radio 1. [link from Laura] I was just as surprised as you would be when I started dancing in my seat in the computer lab. unbelievable
if anyone has any live YYYs tracks that I don't (or new White Stripes, or LCD Soundsystem, for that matter), hook me up, would ya? I still haven't heard "Maps," "Y-Control" or "Black Tongue," not to mention whatever else. You can buy YYYs bags here. Stuff made by actual people is the coolest. And boy, all you European people better consider yourself lucky.. seeing the Stills or the Kills or Har Mar Superstar opening for YYYs... jealous.
does anybody know when the DFA 12" comp might come out? help, please. thanks.
Listening: Medeski Martin and Wood - It's A Jungle In Here
Radio 4 - Gotham!
