First Travis Morrison posts this essay about why war is good. Then Ryan Schreiber actually adds his own opinion to the news bit on D-Plan at Pitchfork, bashing his essay.
You may know this, but then today Travis added a post-script to the essay in response to Ryan. Hahhahahaha. wow
My thoughts:
- This is really freaking funny. Pitchfork added Emergency & I to their top 100 records of the 90's before the record even came out, and I'm sure they've boosted the D-Plan's sales a whole bunch because of their stellar reviews and constant news updates.
- I disagree with Travis because of my fundamental belief that violence begets violence. Please read Richard Power's Prisoner's Dilemma. I don't feel I can fully debate this stuff because I wouldn't feel comfortable until I had sat down and studied as much as I possibly could about it (most people don't feel that way, I think).
- I agree with Ryan. For the reasons above, and that he's always freaking right about everything. Seriously. I don't get where all this recent anti-Pitchfork sentiment comes from. A few of their reviews are off because of that particular reveiwer's opinion on that particular day, but seriously. Best website EVER.
- This sort of makes me not want to see the D-Plan on their last tour. I don't know if it should affect my feelings about their music, but it sort of does.
- I realize the war is much more important than this. But I don't know what to say about it.
