new White Stripes site is semi-launched, with "sister sites" listed as Triple Tremolo and that other evil one...

Pitchfork gives Elephant a 6.9. I'm thinking about writing a response to this review, but I'm not sure I will, mainly because most of the influences they referenced in the review were WOOOOSH right over my big head.

But come on, not even a 7? I admit, I'll skip "In The Cold, Cold, Night" quite often. But "Black Math"? "Seven Nation Army"? "The Hardest Button to Button"? Jeez, every single song besides the 3 or 4 relatively skippable ones? They're huge! And yeah, the last track.. is questionable... but it's soooo worth it cause each time I seriously crack up when Meg is all like "You know I don't care cause Jack really bugs me." And then Holly is all like taking advice from Meg and talking about how she doesn't want to be pregnant and Jack is all like "I'm cryptic and shit." And then Meg is all "Cut it out and tell them what it's really all about" and man, man, that just kills me right there.

Zack also points out that Rolling Stone gave Beck 5 stars for Sea Change (COUGHCOUGH WRONG COUGHCOUGH WHATABOUTODELAY), and Pitchfork gave it a 6.9. RS gives the Stripes 5 stars and Pitchfork gives it...

oh, and seriously I feel for Laura at Coax Me. She's very ill, and subsequently MISSED SPOON. They were in Chi-town for both Sunday and Monday, but of course, those were the only shows on their whole tour that weren't all ages... grumble...

Listening: The White Stripes - Elephant, The Kills - Keep On Your Mean Side, My Bloody Valentine - Loveless, Spoon - A Series of Sneaks
