ok, so the Yeahs show, of course, was... the best.

what is NOT the best is that EVERYONE WHO WRITES ABOUT THE YEAH YEAH YEAHS HAS NO FUCKING CLUE WHAT THEY'RE TALKING ABOUT.
Pitchfork was too nice; I have no idea what possessed Eric Carr to suddenly change his mind.
Greg Kot is a synthesis of all the bullshit magazine articles he's read.
Jim DeRogatis was a little better, I GUESS.
And Michael Goldberg just doesn't get it. He makes a fair attempt at explaining the appeal of the Yeahs and their self-created party image, which I like. But he says that "Rich" "is an absolutely perfect rock 'n' roll song." I got news for you buddy; IT ISN'T. This two minute song is catchy, dancey, and pedal-to-the-metal awesome, but it absolutley will not change your life, especially compared to the IMMEASURABLY better Steve Lamacq recorded version. Shit, on Fever to Tell, you can hear the overdub when she sings "So sUnreal," obviously taken from another take where she sings "So Stuck Up". "Date with a Night" is better. Not only is he wrong about that, but he's wrong about the guitar. He says Nick uses "a guitar sound that sounds vaguely like a cross between a calliope and a theremin." You know why it sounds like those things and not a guitar? BECAUSE IT'S NOT A GUITAR. IT'S THE FREAKING DRUM MACHINE. YOU ARE STUPID!
I can't get over that. "Rich" is perfect. Right. "Machine" could take it any day. I mean COME ON.
And the album. The album is not that good. The YYYs have the wrong mindset in the studio. But I listen to the album all the time, because I love the songs and the band, but not these specific recordings. Be prepared for an essay about what makes the YYYs a great band (hint: it's not the album).
