We've posted our quarrels with NY Times music critic Kelefa "hey-look-mom-I'm-actually-getting-paid-and-recognized-for-making-up-shit-about-popular-music" Sanneh before, complaining to Miss Modernage about how WRONG he manages to be ALL OF THE TIME. But now he has just taken it one step too far. We've previously threatened physical violence if ever we were to confront him, but as Modernage pointed out, it's gotten serious.

Beyonce does not compare to Ashanti, he says.

I admit that all I have heard of the aforementioned artists' new albums are the lead singles. But last time I checked, a solo album had been expected from Beyonce for quite some time, and she followed up the hype with THE BEST SINGLE RELEASED SO FAR THIS SUMMER, AKA "Crazy in Love". I don't care about Destiny's Child, I don't care about her relationship with Jay-Z, I don't care what statements on relationships and women's place in society Mr. Sanneh may see in her music. All I know is that "Crazy in Love" made me bang my head while watching the video for the first time, sitting on my couch. It's unreal.

Also, the last time I checked, everyone was asking Ashanti to QUIT MAKING THOSE IDIOTIC THUG-RAPPER/DITSY-SOUNDING-FEMALE-SINGER SINGLES. I guess people weren't specific enough. Did anybody ASK for her to make an ENTIRE ALBUM? Did anyone ASK the record companies to be relentless about pushing her album on every possible media outlet, including a virtual takeover of MTV, both on shows and during commercials? Did anyone even KNOW she was making an album? Did anyone CARE!?!?! I don't know how Mr. Sanneh can complain about the lyrical content of Beyonce's track, when "Rock Wit U (Aww Baby)" has terrible lyrics IN ITS SONG TITLE ALONE, not to mention the rest of the song. It's the single most ANNOYING track I've heard in a very long time, where she just whines and whines about who-the-fuck-cares what to a just as annoying backbeat.

Glad to get that out of my system. Mr. Sanneh, I hope you've been inspired to NEVER WRITE OR COMMUNICATE YOUR THOUGHTS EVER AGAIN.
