Insound has the debut LP from Franz Ferdinand available for pre-order. If you are one of the first 200 people to pre-order (like... well, me) you get a free import 7" of their unbeleivable new single "Take Me Out". I was thinking about buying that anyway (there's something nice about owning your favorite songs separately). So best.
The new Walkmen album, Bows and Arrows, came out yesterday. (Wow, only 11.99). I'm still not sure what I think of it. The first record was fantastic, much more slow, drawn-out, and atmospheric than their live show. On this they try mixing that with more of the raw energy of their live performance, and I think it has some pretty mixed results. The up-beat songs are great, and the slower songs kind of lose my interest.
Either way, Rock n Roll in the Real World has a great phonetic interpretation of Hamilton's singing.
If you pay attention to the calender section, there are a hella lot of shows coming to the midwest in upcoming months. I am only going to be able to attend some of them because of location and age restrictions... but shit, The Strokes just announced new tour dates. On April 25, the band plays First Ave here in Minneapolis. ...Holy shit. That's about the size of the Bowery Ballroom. Yikes. If the radio station doesn't sponsor the show, looks like I'll be waiting in line with a bunch of 13 year old girls at noon that day.
Maybe I won't have to book it to Coachella this year after all. The Pixies are currently booking a tour. YYyyyyesssssss.
The Stills and Broken Social Scene play the 400 Bar on March 10 and 11, right down the street from my current living quarters. I best get to work on getting into both 21+ shows.
