2005

As you may have been able to tell, I hit a bit of a mental block with regards to this site a few weeks ago. A reason for this was probably my inability to produce a Top 10 list of records for 2004.

There were around 150 songs that were my "favorite" songs, and about 35 or 40 albums that were my "favorite" albums for at least a day or two, if not a week or more, during 2004. However, when I think about the records I listened to the most, the records i enjoyed the most, the records I thought were technically the best, and the records I still want to listen to more, I came up with this list.
At the rate at which I'm getting exposed to new music lately, I predict that this list is going to change a lot over the next few weeks. There's also a lot of records and songs that were left out. One in particular is Blueberry Boat by The Fiery Furnaces, which I'm still learning about and trying to get a grip on, although I may suspect it may be the technically best album put out this year, if not just my favorite. Look for another post on it in the near future.

So that's my makeshift list, which really only serves the purpose of getting it out of my head and up on the site, so I can move forwards. I plan to do a much better list, possibly including singles, with more detail, but we'll see if that actually materializes or not.

Thanks to all who e-mailed and commented in recent weeks, it's much appreciated. I'll try and get into more regular writing and posting.

Oh - this I can tell you. Best song of 2004 hands down: "Yeah" by lcd soundsystem. Apparently, "Yeah" was on my list last year, even if it wasn't officially released then... or was it? Crap. Check out DFA_NYC for a lot more information on recent DFA happenings.

Also, best album so far of 2005: No Wow by The Kills.
