There were around 150 songs that were my "favorite" songs, and about 35 or 40 albums that were my "favorite" albums for at least a day or two, if not a week or more, during 2004. However, when I think about the records I listened to the most, the records i enjoyed the most, the records I thought were technically the best, and the records I still want to listen to more, I came up with this list.
- You're A Woman, I'm A Machine, Death From Above 1979
- Funeral, The Arcade Fire
- Bows + Arrows, The Walkmen
- Ratatat, Ratatat
- DFA Compilation #2, DFA
- Tyrannosaurus Hives, The Hives
- The Trail of the Century, French Kicks
- Franz Ferdinand, Franz Ferdinand
- Misery is a Butterfly, Blonde Redhead
- Now Here Is Nowhere, Secret Machines
So that's my makeshift list, which really only serves the purpose of getting it out of my head and up on the site, so I can move forwards. I plan to do a much better list, possibly including singles, with more detail, but we'll see if that actually materializes or not.
Thanks to all who e-mailed and commented in recent weeks, it's much appreciated. I'll try and get into more regular writing and posting.
Also, best album so far of 2005: No Wow by The Kills.
