WISCO D + WINGS = WOW

So this is my first blog post. I'm Holy Shit, and holy shit, this weekend was a musical awakening. I roadtripped it to central Wisconsin. Radio in Wisconsin makes me love radio variety in Minneapolis. There wasn't even a good classic rock station. Luckily, I had CDs and an iPod with me, so I was able to bump all sorts of awesome shit. The weekend's theme songs were: "Hollaback Girl," "Band on the Run," "Regulators" by Warren G, the My Morning Jacket version of "West End Girls," and "Party All the Time" by E. Murph. Mainly though, we rocked The Thunderbirds Are Now! album and the new Lucero record (no individual trax in particular on either of these records though).

So, anyway, to the point then, yes? Wisconsin radio included two oldies stations, at least seven country stations, and a couple religious channels. The oldies stations were Clear Channel stations and played crappy oldies, to say the least. Cat Stevens played into "Afternoon Delight" on two separate occasions! Holy shit.

Actually, there is no point, except one should never listen to the radio in Wisconsin. Just mini golf with your iPod or something. Peter's gonna be pissed at the quality of Soviet Panda in his absence. Holy shit.

Oh, but on Minneapolis radio: Donovan posted something about the Current a couple days ago. The Current is nowhere near as good as KEXP in Seattle, and it especially sucked last week when they were on their pledge drive and talked for hours about how great of a station they are and how they singlehandedly have saved radio and if you don't give them money, the Current will be gone, etc. Fuck that. The Current would be a better station if their DJ's never opened their mouths to talk. Even on non-pledge weeks, they talk incessantly long. I don't give a shit that Mary Lucia loves Fountains of Fucking Wayne, and I don't want to hear about why she loves them for five minutes.

Nevertheless, the Current and Radio K, and even the wide assortment of Clear Channel stations are much appreciated over the lack of choices in Wisconsin.
