The latest issue of VICE has been online for a while, which means another installment of Electric Independence.
This is "The Verdad [truth] Issue", which means the theme is... lies. See the photoshopped [I think?] DOs and DON'Ts. The thing that is mildly irritating about this theme is that it can be really hard to tell what, if anything, is true. EI usually doesn't follow the theme so closely, and a little searching reveals that all the music are actual releases. I just can't tell if any of Piers Martin's opinions (i.e. regarding clubs, DJ mixes) are jokes or not. It's still a worthwhile read.
In the UK issue there's an article about MSTRKRFT teaming up with Karl Lagerfield for an EP [again, not true]. Funny, but for some reason the article makes me rather uneasy...
If you're in Chicago this weekend, make fucking sure to get to the opening night of Never Enough at Sonotheque (1444 W Chicago) on Friday 2/24, put on by Johnny Love and Opaque. Open bar 9-10 and MSTRKRFT is DJ'ing. Incredible, but I don't think I'll make it down. Maybe they'll play the Twin Cities sometime soon... at, uh... nevermind.
