Twin Cities readers: I will be DJ'ing the Radio K Supporter Appreciation Party at the Fineline this Thursday (3/2). There won't be any of this "woo I'm a blogger I have an iPod I'm a DJ" crap. It'll be a beatmatched set of my recent favorites, a lot of rock remixes, some "real" dance music, etc.
I start playing at 7, doors open to the public at 8, fist band comes on at 9. It's 18+ and free with your Music Lover's Card (or $7.70 at the door). So get there and shake down because I'm sure no one else will.
And don't worry, it's not just my crappy DJ'ing; there's real music too. Local favorites Andrew Broder, Cecil & Dessa, and Maps of Norway will play, and Tapes n Tapes will headline. Tapes n Tapes has been making a lot of noise lately, even scoring a "Best New Music" tag from Pitchfork today. Should be a good show.
And for those of you in Chicago: also this Thursday, postpostpostpost-punkers It's A Trap we'll be playing a show at Beat Kitchen (2100 W. Belmont). The show is 18+ and doors are at 8. Make sure to get there on time since It's A Trap will be on first.
It's A Trap is one of the 'cornerstone' bands of art collective Dance To Panic, the same kids who put on infamous (and sometimes busted) shows at Hey Cadets!. Check out It's A Trap mp3s to download here and their MySpace page.
