NOTES ON FALL OUT BOY (THE BAND)

  • Fall Out Boy is not a name for a band. It is the name of Radioactive Man's sidekick, a fictional comic book character that exists within the fictional TV series The Simpsons.

  • "Sugar, We're Going Down" comes off as an oddity among pop-punk songs, simulatneously encompassing the genre's sound while defying some of its basic tenents. The melodies are anthemic and irrepressible, and the lyrics are dumb-clever to a tee, which you would expect. But the whole thing is arranged backwards, staying in half-time for the entire song until the very end, and the big pre-chorus break happens later in the song, not earlier.

  • I saw part of the "Making the Video" segment for the band's latest single on MTV2. The concept for the video is basically, "what if a terrible emo band had made the video to 'Thriller?'" It is probably the worst music video I have ever seen.

  • Actually, I'm not too surprised by that, because if you had previously asked me what the worst music video ever might look like, I would have answered, "what if a terrible emo band had made the video to 'Thriller?'"

  • Re: bassist's Sidekick photos - If my band had sold as many records as this guy's band has, the first thing I would do is get new wallpaper. STAT.

  • Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, a note to the band:

There is a reason bands don't run around in circles and move and jump violently with their instruments, and there is a reason why you look ridiculous doing that. This is because instruments, like GUITARS, are TUNED a certain way, in order to sound GOOD. If you bang your guitar around like A DUMBASS, this can cause the instrument to go OUT OF TUNE. So, please, stop dancing around like idiots, or, at the very least, TUNE YOUR INSTRUMENTS IN-BETWEEN LIVE SONGS ON NATIONAL TELEVISION. I don't expect much from a shit band, but FOR CHRISTSAKES YOU'RE GIVING ALL BANDS EVERYWHERE A BAD NAME. Don't you at least have someone to do that for you? Would that be so difficult? Thanks.

At first I thought Fall Out Boy was a great band name, because I thought they were using the term "fall out" like "to have a falling out". So envisioned them naming their band after a non-existent superhero who just kind of flew around doing nothing but complain about his girlfriend and listen to weezer, and not really know about dischord records but pretend ian mckaye is the reason he'sstraight edge. but alas they named it after the simpsons. LAME.

ok first off assholes, fall out boy is a fucking kickass name for a band even if it came from a dumbass simpsons character. secondly, there is nothing fuckin wrong with the band and if they wanna jump and spin on stage with their instruments the more pwer to them it makes for a better concert than anything you can come up with. i bet ur favorite band isn't even a band, it's probably th kids from barney or maybe ur a little better than that and it's th wiggles. don't fuckin mess with fall out boy. i'd like to see you do what all they've done. can u go from being an awesome chicago suburbs sold-out band playing in bars to the country's hottest in just a few years? when u do let me know otherwise i don't wanna hear another piece of shit come out of ur dumbass rock band hatin mouth. go die in a shithole and save th world some pain and suffering.

Since people are still reading this post, I'd just like to clarify that I love Infinity On High to death, and that I still think my points hold true.
