It's similarities to "Cities" are so overt that it's overwhelming at first. The fade-in intro, the popping bass line, the copied scratchy guitar part all seem to scream, "See! this is why dance-punk failed, it's completely derivative!"
But dance-punk was never much of a social movement, neither a success nor failure, and with the close of the song comes the real point. The break-down chanting from Mattie Safer and the back-up singers, ranting about how no one dances (imagine that...), is so straight-up disco it hurts. It becomes obvious that The Rapture are not going to just fade away. They're here to make actual dance music, and with that mindset they're likely to succeed beyond Echoes.
