My favorite moment of the night occurs when kids in the balcony start yelling at Thom Yorke—who is onstage to accept an award—to smile. With a sour look, he deadpans, “I am smiling.” Carrie, perhaps fortified by wine, begins to give solo standing ovations to every award recipient. Her catcalls and shouts become more and more raucous until we convince her to sit down.
