Franz Ferdinand have cover art and a title picked out for their next album, as well as an idea of what it will sound like.
The Ferd will also rerelease their self-titled debut in the U.S. as a deluxe edition, featuring four appended b-sides, which are "Van Tango", "Shopping for Blood", "All for You, Sophia", and "Words So Leisured", plus a re-recorded version of "This Fire" (produced by Rich Costey) which, last I heard, was re-titled "This Fffire". You can watch the video for "This Fffire" here. I guess that's a decent deal for the average fan, but, unlike Pitchfork reported, all of those b-sides were available on U.S. singles, as well as UK singles. The first two were on the "Darts of Pleasure" CD, and the second two were on the U.S. cd-single release of "Take Me Out", which I already have. Overall, that's pretty disappointing, considering there are about 500 Ferd b-sides out in the UK.
Last bit of Ferd news, the band will be playing the third night of Q101's reformatted Twisted concert in Chicago, at the Aragon Ballroom on Sunday, November 5. This is impressive because The Hives are opening for them. That would be an amazing show to see, even if the Aragon has terrible sound. The second night isn't bad either, with the Secret Machines opening for Modest Mouse. [Skip the first night.]
