LOCK AND LOAD

One of my favorite NYC bands, Aerial Love Feed, has been born anew as ROCKETHOUSE. The band has been through a lot of changes lately, besides their name. As far as I can tell, they've shrunk from five members to three, but have kept their signature sound, a huge, overwhelming mix of organic and synthetic sounds. They have five tracks streaming in high-quality on their website, some rerecorded ALF tracks, and I definitely recommend checking them out.

Also, this is more of a heads-up than anything: The Bravery. The NYC band has recently signed to Island Records, presumably looking to cash in on the Killers' success. You can stream three tracks at the site and watch the video for "Unconditional". My favorite song of theirs is "Fearless", but they don't have it available for download anymore. I've heard "The Strokes meet Duran Duran" as a descriptor... judge yourself. Read about them in Rolling Stone here.

Brooklyn Vegan has the best photos of U2's guerilla gig through NYC that I've seen.

The Nirvana box set, not-so-cleverly titled With The Lights Out, is released today.
