NOTE TO SELF: EMPTY!

Pitchfork profiles Bloc Party. I think it's sort of funny that Bloc Party has already gone through "hype" and "backlash" at this point in their career. A lot of people are missing the point: Bloc Party knows what they're doing and do it well, regardless of whether you enjoy it or not. At least Pitchfork is able to pick up on that.

Download a lot of Bloc Party songs here.

Bloc Party is playing the First Ave mainroom on March 30. It's an 18+ show, which is amazing luck because it's at First Ave. More importantly, my favorite band The Kills are opening the show, and only in Minneapolis. Amazing. They will be playing songs from their forthcoming, I-can't-say-enough-good-things-about-it second album, No Wow. Be there. I will remind you.

Other Pitchfork articles [sort of] worth looking at:
Albums: M83, Trail of Dead, Die Monitr Batss, and they like Bright Eyes.
Singles - The Walkmen, Queens of the Stone Age, M83, Lindsay Lohan, Les Savy Fav.

Jon Pareles was at the first Gang of Four reunion show. The article provides an interesting prespective on bands coming back when their music is popular again. Choice quote: Afterward, one sweaty patron in his 20's said, "I hadn't realized how much all the bands I like sound like them." Also, he gets a comment from Bloc Party's bass player. Good call. Such a better critic than Sanneh.

Green Day's American Idiot has moved back up to number one on the Billboard charts. I've actually been listening to it lately -- though I haven't gotten past the fourth or fifth track, mind you. But the nine minute medley [how un-punk is the word medley?] "Jesus of Suburbia" is like pop-punk heaven. I'm going to learn the whole thing by heart.

The Fiery Furnaces are aiming for a summer release date for their next album, which will be a double album. I can't wait for them to tour again.

Queens of the Stone Age and Hot Hot Heat are going on tour.

Someone has to buy me this t-shirt. Medium, short-sleeved. I wonder if I could adopt that for the site's official shirt... too perfect [thanks SL].

Also, new and old Enon tracks for download here.

I'm second your praise for The Kills. I was lucky enough to interview them on Tuesday and they were both very cool. The interview will be up on www.freewilliamsburg.com and onelouder.blogspot.com very soon.
