For those unaware, del.icio.us is a "social bookmarking tool". What that means is you use it to bookmark your favorite sites, add a description of what they are, and tag them with keywords. This way they are easily exported as content (such as the side-bar), searchable by other del.icio.us users, and most importantly, save tons of space on my browser's links bar, where I can no longer find a thing. I didn't really get what it was about until I started my own account. Now I think it's tops. For more tips on how to use del.icio.us a good place to start is new blog Lifehacker, which has tons of ideas not only on how to use online crap like this, but to make your day to day life easier and more productive.
Anyways, a good portion of my "blogging" is going to take place on the sidebar. Look for new links, and hover over any for a brief description of what it is. You can also subscribe to the RSS feed for it if you're so inclined.
If you haven't been keeping up, here are few highlights from my first foray into del.icio.us:
- Montreal band Wolf Parade gets interviewed at the Nerve screening room. Presumably, they talk about sex, as well as music.
- The latest single from The Darkness, "One Way Ticket", is streaming at their MySpace page. And you thought they would've disappeared by now!
- Northwestern's paper does a feature on Chicago DJ Johnny Love. His media persona is a bit much, but he throws some good parties and spins some hot shit.
- Chicago guitarist/mulit-instrumentalist/innovator Jim O'Rourke has apparently left Sonic Youth since joining up for and producing Murray Street.
- An interview with Danny Perez, Black Dice's touring projectionist and director for their latest video for "Smiling Off", as well as Animal Collective's "Who Could Win A Rabbit". There's also a link to watch "Smiling Off".
