YES, IN FACT, WE KNOW IT'S HALLOWEEN

Last week was a busy week for shows - Warlocks, Metric, Devendra Banhart, Calla, the Go! Team and Feist/Broken Social Scene were all shows I was looking forward to. I didn't go to a single one. Go figure.

I heard that Metric was good (Emily Haines was pissy), Banhart played well with his new band, Feist was better live than on record, and Broken Social Scene played for way too long. Any other thoughts?

Some notable links of the past week or so:

  • The Go! Team featured in my favorite NYTimes feature, "A Night Out With...". Favorite quote: "This group needs more enthusiasm like Paris Hilton needs more press."
  • The Futureheads are releasing a new EP for their live show staple "Area". The track is kick-ass. Sounds like "Man Ray" crossed with "Decent Days", sorta.
  • Maximo Park featured in the Guardian. I like that band a little bit more each day. Paul Smith danced with Meg White and didn't realize it.
  • Today is probably the last day where the really cool, star-studded, ex-Unicorns-written, Vice-Recordings-released song and video for "Do They Know It's Halloween?" is relevant.
  • Mute has information about Liars' forthcoming releases. The best part about new stuff from Liars is knowing that you have no idea what it's going to sound like.

Anybody that thinks BSS played for too long is a musical baby. Can they not stand for a solid two hours? One of the best shows I've seen all year.

So...Warlocks, Metric, Devendra Banhart, Calla, the Go! Team and Feist/Broken Social Scene...and you didn't see a single one??? Should we worry, dude?

it wasn't that the person couldn't stand. it was that they said bss played about every song in their repetoire, which would bore me as well.
