Magda was a surprise standout at DEMF earlier this summer. Her take on minimal was tight, groove-oriented and surprisingly funky. (It's too bad she played on the Made in Detroit stage, which sounded pretty much like a garage.) Her funkiness is partly explained in this mix, with a tracklisting that looks more like it came from a DFA-affiliated DJ rather than anyone from Minus. Seriously! Go grab Magda's mix for RA if you haven't already.

Yes. House of House has recorded the latest mix (#199) for the Resident Advisor podcast. Download the mix and read the interview at RA. It includes tracks from Paperclip People, FK, an unreleased mix of "Rushing to Paradise," and... a remix of Mariah Carey. And yes, they're working on a remix for Crookers.

Friday I will be playing at the Walker After Hours at the Walker Art Center, to celebrate the opening of their new exhibition Abstract Resistance before it opens to the public. Kill The Vultures will also be playing, and there will be "cash bars, complimentary Wolfgang Puck snacks, Party People Pictures, all galleries open." It's from 9-12, tickets are $35 or $25 for members, and more details can be found here, or in the write-up in the City Pages.
