Bassgasm... The Return

I'm playing at a massive event this Friday at First Avenue, with Tommie Sunshine (not familiar with the other names), put on by Woody McBride.  I was recently interviewed at City Pages about the event, and you can read that here.  The sound at this thing is going to be absolutely mind-destroying.

Also, I just upped the mix featured in the article onto Mixcloud - follow me there if you're into that kinda thing.

Red Fridays

Friday I'm in DC!  I'll be playing at Red Fridays with Lazaro Casanova at the new U Street Music Hall.  They've had some great guests so far, including Mike Simonetti, Tim Sweeney and Andy Butler, and Morgan Geist plays next week.  I am super psyched - come out to get down with us.  Many thanks to Will Eastman for hooking me up - he'll be here in Minneapolis later this month.

Also be sure to check out my latest live mix for download on the Lovecast!

Panda Room

Tonight I'm playing at Jetset for my friends' 18+ party, Locker Room... Panda Room!  Expect house and disco jams, new and old.

I'm playing the opening set at Too Much Love on Saturday, where we're lucky to have special guest Dustin Zahn.  Dustin is an incredible techno producer, making waves around the world with releases on labels like Rekids, Drumcode, and his own label Enemy, and I'm really looking forward to him rocking the First Ave mainroom.  Head over to the TML site for more details.

420

I think I'm DJing at the Triple Rock tonight for the Moon Goons' extravaganza, but firm plans are sort of antithetical to the 420 spirit, aren't they?

4.16.2010

Currency

I'm DJing tonight for the release of Dearling Physique's new Currency EP at the Varsity Theater.  Dom of Dearling Physique is one of the most consistently forward-thinking artists in the cities, and this will definitely be a show worth seeing.  You can read his recent interview with the City Pages for a bit more insight.  More details are over on Facebook.

Daily Love

Too Much Love was just featured as one of the city's best dance nights in the student-run Minnesota Daily.  Check out the article here!

Bassgasm

Too Much Love and Sovietpanda are proud to be part of Bassgasm, a dance event taking over the enitirety First Avenue this Friday. Legendary techno producer/DJ/promoter Woody McBride has put together this insane event, cramming headliner DJs and tons of extra sound into literally every room at First Avenue, which promises to transform the club into an electronic music circus.

Especially of note is headliner Derrick Carter, one of the forefathers of Chicago house and a real hero for house music DJs and fans, rocking on the massive soundsystem being brought into the mainroom. Every room at First Ave wil be a party, upstairs and downstairs, so this is definitely a don't miss event. It goes all night, and tickets are only $15 in advance from First Avenue.

For more information about this epic event, read this interview with Woody McBride over at City Pages.

Also check out some interviews and mixes from guest DJs over at the BLACK blog.

Hot Holiday

I will be DJing a special disco holiday party tonight at Jetset. Last year's shindig was extremely fun, and we are expecting no different this time around. Brave the cold and heat up on the dance floor! Details on Facebook.

Hallowe'en

I am DJing some kick-ass Halloween parties.

Friday is Distant Planet, thrown by Andrew "Naughty" Wood at the very cool Gallery 13 space (811 LaSalle).  This is right downtown. The soundsystem is going to be large and loud. The line-up is diverse and quality, including a live set from my buddy Wet Legs.  The space is going to spaced out.  The admission might seem steep, but it gets you free drinks, beer and liquor, all night!  Plus it's a good break from your typical club atmosphere - we go very late!  Definitely the Halloween party to be at.  Come out and freak out!  More details on Facebook.

Then on Saturday is First Avenue's annual Halloween party and costume contest.  If you've never been, it really probably is the biggest Halloween party in the Cities.  Jam-packed with people dressed in the most elaborate costumes, it's really something to witness.  I know two people who have met their spouses at this party.  I will be DJing the main slot.  Advance tickets are only $5, so get them now!  This will sell out/fill-up so get there early.

In Flagranti

This Saturday, I have a very special edition of Too Much Love. In Flagranti, one of my favorite producers and DJs, will be headlining. For more info, check out the TML blog.

As a sidenote, tonight I will be playing music with my friend Dom Terrace at Gang Chen in Minneapolis, from 10 until 2. It's 2-4-1's the whole time, and I hear the food is good, so get down to Nicollet and hang with us. It's basically a block off Franklin Ave, towards downtown, at 1833 Nicollet Ave S, and I've seen it get pretty wild. Join us!

$99

You can find me at a ton of events in Minneapolis this weekend, so come out!

First, on Friday evening, I will be DJing the $99 Sale at the Soap Factory with my friend Elliott Payne. The $99 Sale is an extremely cool art event in the Twin Cities, and I can't find a flier for it, but you can read about it at the $99 Sale website, or in this week's City Pages A-List.

Directly following, I will be dropping disco and house heaters at Jetset, which is always a fun time. Jetset's hip interior and classy cocktails are a win. 21+ and no cover.

On Saturday, I will be joined by my frequent partner-in-crime Naughty Wood for a trip at Too Much Love. Naughty Wood gets the kids hyped on acid house and trippy disco, so
expect a hot night of dancing. [Facebook event]

Finally on Sunday, my buds the 717 Boys (aka Josh and Travis from the Moon Goons and Wurst Music) will be taking over my monthly night at the Kitty Cat Klub. Denial is always a fantastic way to end the weekend, with bloody marys and a very wide selection of tunes, and I'll be sad to miss this one. Luckily you don't have to! It's 21+ and FREE. Check out my live Denial promo mix here. [Facebook event]

DO YOU PARTY?

I will be returning to my old stomping grounds at Radio K this evening. Do You Party? is the new dance/electronic show on the station, and Gary Slam and Mattastic will be having me on the show DJing. I'll also be promoting the Too Much Love Summer Club Jam with Jacques Renault this Saturday. Tune in on the radio or online and get in the mix with us! 6-8 pm central time.
